Commencement Information for Faculty Members

Thank you for participating in the commencement celebration for our graduating Master and Doctoral students.

The following information is intended for faculty both hooding their students and attending the Slug Crossing commencement.

Logistics

For faculty placing the regalia hood on a graduate, we encourage faculty to meet the graduate at the venue entrance - no ticket is required for participating faculty; you may also make arrangements to meet somewhere else and arrive together. However, faculty should stay with their student as they go through the line and the photo opportunities on the way to the stage.

If the next student arriving on stage is to be hooded by the same faculty, then the faculty can remain onstage; otherwise, they should go behind the stage to meet their next student in line. It is important that the hooders and graduates stay in communication.

"Hooding" Ceremony

Graduate students can be hooded by their adviser or another person of their choice at Slug Crossing.  They are responsible for letting their hooder know what 15-minute time slot they are scheduled for.

The deadline to order regalia has passed. Regalia is encouraged but not required.

Faculty Parking

Faculty can park in the east remote lot (Slug Crossing or UCSC permits are not required)

Faculty in the Audience

If you are not hooding anyone, you can join in the festivities from the audience section! Please do check-in with the volunteers at the Check-In Tables as you enter the event. Again, no tickets or parking permits are necessary for faculty at commencement.
