Professional Development
Professional development encompasses learning and mastering multiple types of knowledge, skills, relationships, and personal traits that will benefit you in all stages of your academic and post-academic careers. You will learn many of these things through your coursework, research, teaching, mentoring relationships, publishing, presentations and performances, service activities, and experiences in the lab, studio, or public outreach.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EVENTS
Professional development programming and resources are offered through the Graduate Division Events, your department, and other units on campus to support you in gaining knowledge and mastering these skills.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
At UCSC, we have identified nine categories of Professional Skills to help you gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to equip you for success in graduate school and beyond. These skills are interrelated and transferable, no matter your degree, discipline, or career goals.
