New Graduate Student and TA Orientation

The Fall New Student and Teaching Assistant Orientations will be held on Monday and Tuesday September 25 & 26, 2017, and will provide new graduate students and teaching assistants information about resources available on campus. The presentations and handouts referenced at the Orientation will be posted here.

Students will need to bring photo ID (school ID, driver’s license, passport) to the orientations (Monday and Tuesday) as these may be needed for the check-in process. A state ID or passport will be needed at the Grad BBQ on Tuesday.

International Graduate Student Orientation (bring photo ID)
Register at:
  • 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Morning Session for all New International Graduate Students, Media Theater
  • 1:00p.m.: Afternoon workshops available for International students without TA assignments
TA Orientation (Domestic & International) (bring photo ID)
Register at:
  • 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Resource Fair, TA Registration Check, and Lunch*, outside of Media Theater
  • 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: TA Orientation, Media Theater

*Lunch will only be provided for students who have registered for the TA Orientation; bring your photo ID.

New Graduate Student Orientation (Domestic & International)
Register at:

  • 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.: Welcome Coffee, Mimosa and Scones, Graduate Student Commons
  • 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.: Campus Tour, Departs from the Graduate Student Commons / ends at Humanities Court Yard
  • 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.: Resource Fair, Humanities Court Yard
  • 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.: Graduate Student Orientation, Humanities Lecture Hall
  • 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.: Social BBQ, Cowell Provost House Back Yard (bring photo ID)
