General Calendar and Timelines

UC LEADS Program

The following timeline will provide a general overview of the UC LEADS program at UCSC up to the second summer research experience. The calendar provided is not inclusive and does not encompass all activities experienced throughout the course of this program.

* October - February: UC Leads applications are accepted

* February: UC LEADS Application Deadline (see UC LEADS Application for details).

* February-March : Contact and conduct interviews.

* March: Confirm new UC LEADS Scholars.

* April-May: New scholar orientation and match students with research mentors.

* June – August: First summer research experience at UCSC, weekely UC LEADS course, GRE preparation course, team building activities, graduate school exploration and preparation.

* Fall: Cohort meetings, prepare for Annual Koret UC LEADS Sympoisum, GRE testing, conference attendance.

* Winter: Present at UCSC’s Pre-Symposium and at the Annual Koret UCLEADS Research and Leadership Symposium.

* Spring: Selection and placement of second summer research campus and mentors, attend career workshops.

* Summer: Second summer research experience at another UC campus.

* Research is conducted throughout the academic year in addition to summer research.
