UCSC offers the academic rigor and resources of a major university within a personalized, small college setting. It is also committed to providing comprehensive services to minority populations who are underrepresented in the STEM fields. The UCSC AGEP program is designed to increase the number of graduate students in STEM fields while also addressing the diverse and specific educational needs of incoming graduate students.

Academic and Professional Development: Funding for attendance at workshops, conferences, national meetings and other career building activities.
Workshops and other activities designed to strengthen and foster community within the UCSC graduate student population.
Partnerships with California State Universities, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
Preparation for postdoctoral transition and access to postdoctoral opportunities including grant funding.
