Pre-registration Information Fall 2008

Dear Newly Admitted Graduate Students,

On behalf of the Division of Graduate Studies, I welcome you to UC Santa Cruz. We are pleased that you decided to attend UCSC for your graduate education.

Please review this information carefully.

You can activate your CruzMail email account through the MyUCSC Student Portal. From the main menu, click on the "Activate UCSC Email Account" link and follow the instructions. If you are returning to UCSC and need to reactivate an old CruzMail or CATS account, contact the Information Technology Services Help Desk for assistance (http://its.ucsc.edu/support_center/).

Student ID Card pictures will be taken in the ID Card Services Office at the Bookstore Building from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from July 14 through September 25. You will need to show some form of picture ID. A driver's license or passport will be acceptable.

TA orientation for the 2008-09 academic year will be handled by each department. All departments campus-wide will schedule early training sessions for their new TA's, addressing specific department issues relevant to their TA assignments. Please contact your department regarding their training schedules.

To acquaint you with UC Santa Cruz, a new graduate student orientation program will be held on Tuesday, September 23 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the new Humanities lecture hall. I want to ask you to make a special effort to be present, as we have many important things to tell you and many interesting people for you to meet.
